The head of the department is Professor Ihor Anisimov, Dr. Sci. (Phys.&Math.).
The department prepares bachelors and masters of the specialty 172 «Telecommunications and Radio Engineering» and provides teaching of radio-electronic profile courses for students of other specialties of our faculty and the Faculty of Computer Science and Cybernetics.
The topics of scientific work are data processing, telecommunications; operation and reliability of radio electronic equipment; plasma electronics, plasma technologies; optical fibres; etc.

Scientists of the department take part in the implementation of the R&D «Physical bases of technological applications of low-temperature plasma» (together with the Department of Physical Electronics).
The department maintains scientific relations with a number of foreign institutions («Lublin University of Technology», Lublin, Poland; «Institute of Electronics», Bulgarian Academy of Sciences, Sofia, Bulgaria; «Brno University of Technology», Brno, Czech Republic; «Toulouse III – Paul Sabatier University», Toulouse, France, etc.) and involves their specialists into teaching students.
The department involves representatives of business and scientific institutions (Mobile telephone network operator, «Lifecell», LLC «Radioniks», the government-owned industry «Scientific Center of Precision Machine Building», LLC «VIAKOM», the Institute of Applied Problems of Physics and Biophysics NAS of Ukraine, the Institute of Physics NAS of Ukraine, etc.) into the organization of the educational process and employment of the graduates.
