Field of activity is physics and finance!

The path of the best: 4 years of study and 2 bachelor’s degrees

(Applied Physics, Economics)

The Faculty of Radiophysics, Electronics and Computer Systems (FREX) of the Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv opens the preparation of specialists for a new educational program – “Econophysics”.

Econophysics (Physical economics) is the use of the methodology of theoretical physics for modelling and research of economic processes. It is based on the analogy between the equations used in the economy and the equations of individual physical processes (hydrodynamics and the “flow of money”, temperature and cost, phase transition and “collapse” of the market, etc.). It requires knowledge of many branches of applied mathematics, the methodology of which is used in physically understandable examples.

The econophysicist gets thorough training in the field of analytical and numerical calculations of complex processes, system analysis and simulation along with extensive knowledge in the field of economics that are necessary for the effective operation of various institutions. Modern econophysics requires profound fundamental knowledge of mathematics, physics and programming. The methodology of applying the theoretical underpinning within the framework of training courses is worked out on physically understandable examples.

The education for the Bachelor’s Degree at the Faculty of Radiophysics, Electronics and Computer Systems (FREX) of the Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv is within the framework of the “Applied Physics” speciality. Unlike other educational areas of this speciality, econophysics highly reduces laboratory classes in physics, replacing them with disciplines from some of the best teachers of the Faculty of Economics. After the end of the 2nd course, students have the opportunity, if desired, to get a second higher education through parallel training at the Faculty of Economics of our university on a special program for the preparation of bachelors in economics. To do this, students take the appropriate qualification exam.

Those, who complete the double education program, will receive two diplomas of Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv for 4 years of study (first higher education – “Bachelor of Applied Physics”, full-time education, second higher education – “Bachelor of Economics”, full-time education).

Further education can be taken in the magistracy as a technical direction, as well as in economic specialities in Ukraine and abroad. Graduates receive versatile knowledge and can work in the banking sector, investment funds, applied physics, as well as emerging fast growing combi-fields. Having two diplomas of one of the best universities in the country is an outstanding advantage in the labour market.

For entrance into FREX for the first year, such External independent evaluation (EIE) certificates are needed:
